How Do We Help?
Here at Arts out West, we have a great deal of experience and knowledge about small-scale shows - be it music, drama, dance, puppetry, comedy, storytelling - which are suitable for village halls.
We see a lot of shows ourselves. We also belong to the National Rural Touring Forum (NRTF), along with 30 other touring schemes all around the country. There's an annual conference and showcase event - for which promoter bursaries are available - where we can see and hear about shows that are available. We're in regular contact with other schemes and can soon find out what goes down well and what to avoid. So you can book with confidence from the menus we put out.
As a new promoter, we'll give you a copy of the very comprehensive "Don't Panic" promoters' pack which the NRTF has prepared, with hints and tips gleaned from more than 30 years of rural touring.
We run training evenings and/or days (usually in the North and South of the area) , when you can get together with other promoters, share experiences and best practice, find out more about the shows on the menu, and focus on issues such as customer care, working with the media, health and safety etc.
You can get a complimentary ticket to go and see another event in some-one else's hall.
We aim to visit every hall, and see every show at least once , during the year
We're on the end of the phone, if you have any problems or queries.
We're always happy to come and talk to your village hall committee, if you think it would be helpful.
We are always looking out for new sources of funding, and will enlist your help in campaigning and lobbying for funds to keep this very worthwhile scheme going.
This all sounds good. How do I become a promoter ?
